Friday, 4 hours in a plane, 5 hours in a train, 1 hour in a car and ... strong winds on the ocean. Ugly swell, and not really possible to surf.
So I decided to pick up my boards which were stored somewhere to take them with me to be ready for an early morning session (usually, less wind in the early, really early morning).
1- the longboard on the roof.
2- the Rusty Aviso on the roof of the car.
3- 4 seconds to catch the string to fix everything on the roof
4- Strong wind !
And, hop, the Rusty surfboard on the floor ! Ouf, it's made of carbon. But not the fins ! And so, at 20h00, I have a Rusty fish with only 1 fin ok. #%$$ ! yes, I repeat #%$$ !
But, that's murphy's law, no problem. We have a strong relationship altogether, and usually, the best thing is to think positive and pray for finding good fins in the surfshop, but anyway it won't be for the early morning session. Surf shops are not openned 24/24.
Saturday morning, longboard surfession in a messy ocean, windy, but always good to catch waves. Right after, I went to the surf shop (Ocean Gate surfshop, and no, they do not pay me to mention their name).
There, I bought nice fins, a bit special ,with a nice shape, not usual. A bit expensive (95 EUROS !!!!). Wondering if I'll feel the difference.
And guess what : Sunday morning, Monday morning - I felt the difference. The surf was easier to move, getting more speed than it used to, and the bottom turns, the rollers, the floaters, were much easier. Placebo effect ? Real improvement ? I guess, it's real technical improvement.
So, before changing your board for the one showed by Manu, try new fins. It's cheaper and can be fun.
I do not know if I am ready to try these kind of boards ....
